  The Natural History Museum Dublin

This small museum in Merrion Square has a superb collection. One of our well known directors of Art visited it recently with some American guests - a child in the party asked his father "What are these animals?" His dad replied "Aw - these are cartoon copies of the animals we have back home, son."

My daughter wondered how this man had explained the Paintings in the National Art Museum to his son - and infront of his host Dr Keavney. Do we have cartoons instead of paintings perhaps?

Lucy makes these charming drawings of our "cartoon" animals
