Letters from America What we have here is the common frustration of WAITING & HOPING ... SOMEONE ..... ANYONE .... will ride out of the fog and SAVE US! We are on a SINKING SHIP and there IS NO ONE ELSE ON BOARD. Let us "dissect" the problem. We are TRYING to maintain a middle class (what ever that is) standard of living. We hope and try to impart our values upon our children. BEYOND THIS we have LITTLE to NO CONTROL. First observation. It requires a MINIMUM of 60 to 80 hours of LABOR to meet our financial commitments and hopefully maintain our standard of living. That is further complicated by the deindustrialization of the nation coupled with the INTENTIONAL flooding the market place with CHEAP illegal LABOR. ALL employers MUST seek to bill at a MINIMUM of 5 times their labor cost plus material. Second observation. Government has created a MASIVE WELFARE INDUSTRY designed to discourage any incentive to PRODUCE. The SYSTEM DEMANDS a PARSITIC LIFE STYLE, paid for by 1/3rd of the labor of ALL PRODUCERS. Third observation. Because we (as a population) are JOB oriented to solve our economic dilemma, we LOOK TO GOVERNMENT (and the MEDIA) to RAISE OUR CHILDREN. Those values imparted in this process ARE NOT OUR. Soon we find ourselves in conflict with OUR OWN CHILDREN. SUMMARY .... If we are ever to FIND A SOLUTION to the above dilemma .... WE MUST .... FIRST rid ourselves of the yoke of GOVERNMENT. How do WE DO THAT? The SYSTEM is created and PROGANDIZED that WE CAN NOT DO THAT! So FIRST we MUST BELIEVE THERE IS A SOLUTION. That solution is to elect TO DROP OUT of the system. LOOK at the methods by which our GREAT GRAND PARENTS and their PARENTS survived and prospered. THE VAST MAJORITY were SELF EMPLOYED. To FREE ourselves of GOVERNMENT we must first find FINANCIAL INDEPENDANCE. That REQUIRES we do 1 of 2 things ... we MUST, REDUCE OUR OVERHEADS or INCREASE OUR INCOME. Generally it is MUCH, MUCH easier to REDUCE OUR OVERHEADS. This subject could go on for days .... but I think if all can simply GRASP the concept and THINK ... solutions will find themselves. From Dave. Hey Dave
this might do for you!!! He Can't Hide in Crawford, He Can't Hide in Washington
While Bush tries to hide at his ranch in Crawford for five weeks, pretending world opinion isn't against him, reality is bearing down. And when he returns to the White House, that reality will appear in front of him in a massive display on the streets. His advisors have said that he won't meet with Cindy Sheehan (who rode to Crawford in a bus emblazoned with "Impeachment") because, according to the Washington Post, "he does not care to meet with protesters or to reward them." The fact is, he and his administration can't hide. The tide of opposition is overwhelming them, along with their arrogant plans for conquest abroad and destruction of civil rights at home. ImpeachBush and VotetoImpeach members are organizing contingents from around the country to be at the White House on September 24 to join in the huge antiwar protest and march. We have learned that the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition, which is organizing the antiwar protest at the White House, has obtained permits to rally on both sides of the White House and has secured the first march permit in years to go on Pennsylvania Avenue directly in front of the White House! August 13 / 14, 2005 Too Hot for HarvardFinkelstein's "Beyond Chutzpah" Nixed by Cowed BookstoresBy JOHN FARLEY Readers of The Handstand are already aware of the attempts by Alan Dershowitz to stop publication of Norman Finkelstein's book Beyond Chutzpah with threats of a libel suit. When Dershowitz failed, that seemed to be the end of the story, but it wasn't: The effort to suppress the book continues in new ways. Bookstores normally host events to introduce new books, but at least two bookstores have now rescinded invitations to previously scheduled events for Beyond Chutzpah. The Barnes and Noble bookstore at DePaul University cited the "controversial" nature of the book. Since controversy helps to sell books, the Barnes and Noble decision is really a euphemism for a cave-in to outside pressure. Pressure exerted by whom? One guess: the same Barnes and Noble bookstore is holding an event for Dershowitz's new book, The Case for Peace, which boasts of a blurb by General Ariel Sharon himself. There is certainly no controversy here! The Harvard bookstore also rescinded an invitation to an event for Beyond Chutzpah, stating that it feared "economic retaliation". This raises the very interesting question of just exactly who is threatening "economic retaliation?" Obviously it can't be Dershowitz acting alone: an individual professor just doesn't buy that many books. Dershowitz is the public spokesman for a larger group, which is making an organized effort to suppress Beyond Chutzpah, using a new form of censorship: making threats to choke off the distribution channels.
