MUSIC OUTLINES FOR DUBLIN EARLY OCTOBER
Venue: Mahony Hall, The Theatreand The Space
RTE Concert Orchestra will host the most significant International Contemporary Music Festival to be staged in Ireland in two decades. The festival will be centred on the music of distinguished Italian composer Lucian Berio, who will appear at the festival as a guest of honour. Also featured will be works by significant figures in Irish and International classical music composed over the last seven decades, including 20 Irish premieres and the world premieres of specially commissioned works by three composers from both sides of the Irish border. This rich programme of events has been devised by Irish composer, Raymond Deane, Artistic Director of the Festival in consultation with Luciano Berio.

The Festival will include performances by all three instrumental ensembles of RTE, specialist contemporary music ensembles and soloists including Swedish virtuoso trombonist, Christian Lindberg and contemporary music specialist Maurizio Barbetti amongst others.

The rich programme of performances will also include four seminars led by the Berio and Joyce scholar David Osmond Smith, designed to offer listeners a unique insight into Berio's diverse musical output and influences.
