DECEMBER 6
Deputy U.S. Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, a
principal architect of U.S. policy toward Iraq, will
provide an update on Iraq Policy and address the larger
context of U.S. Defense priorities on Friday, December 6
in San Francisco. His talk is entitled "Building The
Bridge To A More Peaceful Future."
Prior to his appointment as Deputy Defense Secretary, Dr.
Wolfowitz also served as Dean of the
Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at
Johns Hopkins University and before that, as Under
Secretary of Defense for Policy during the administration
of President George H.W. Bush. Dr. Wolfowitz also served
as U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia and as Assistant
Secretary of State of East Asian and Pacific Affairs
during the Reagan Administration. The program will take
place at the Peacock Room of the Mark Hopkins
Intercontinental Hotel, 999 California Street, San
Francisco.

Shortly before noon on Friday 6 December at the Mark
Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco, Assistant Secretary of
Defense Paul Wolfowitz intervened to force his host the
Commonwealth Club basely to renege on its written
invitation to me to cover his talk as the California
correspondent for Jocelyn Braddell's HANDSTAND on-line
journal based in Dublin, Ireland. http://www.thehandstand.org
Weeks in advance I had arranged for my admission via
telephone and e-mail contact with the Commonwealth Club
director for media relations, Ms.Riki Rafner. My by-lined
report on a recent similar event in Berkeley featuring
famed correspondent Robert Fisk appears in HANDSTAND'S
December issue.
Yesterday when I arrived at the press table, however, a
uniformed Pentagon press officer tried to
shoo me away. Her business card identifies her as
Lt.Colonel Cynthia B.Colin, USAF of Pentagon Room 2E765.
I handed Col.Colin a print-out of my e-letter of
authorization from Ms.Rafner, who
was absent from the occasion, being represented there by
her deputy, Ms.Nicole Jusplain. The Colonel then
disappeared until she could arrange for the head goon of
the Mark Hopkins, one Russ Petrocelli, to demand that I
leave the Hotel.
"It's private property!" he kept saying, backed
up by a suited side of white beef big enough to play
defensive tackle for the Green Bay Packers. Petrocelli
complained that I had recently circulated on a private
e-list a "very inflammatory" letter, of which
he gave me a copy and which I plan to post next
week as a follow-up. Nicole the non-entity had "No
comment" on this breach of faith by her
employer. Her boss, Commonwealth Club Chief Operating
Officer Gregory Dalton, failed to return my telephone
call.
This a preliminary notice. Next Tuesday, dog willing, I
expect to have time to return to the story. In
the meantime, I wish to call to the attention of friends
of justice around the world the following facts: All
attentive observers realize the Washington regime under
both Bushes and Clinton to be guilty of genocide against
the civilian population of Iraq. Experts estimate the
death toll there due to the US blockade as now in excess
of 1,000,000 [one million], many of them small children.
The Jew Paul Wolfowitz has been complicit at a high level
in the whole slaughtering process and in the last 2 years
has emerged as the leading advocate of invasion to his
nominal master, the notorious count-appointed moron in
the White House.
Both the politics and the economics of the Ariel
Shaboom-Bush Graball are collapsing daily and globally.
"United We Flop !" Only by brazenly murdering
on an even larger scale can the tyrants hope to keep the
Six Billion of Earth cowed into submission. If we let
them get away now with victimizing the Iraqis, then
tomorrow it will be the Venezuelans, the day after the
Japanese, next week the Mexicans and the reader can
continue the list.
By treacherously restricting coverage of Wolfowitz's talk
to the tame press, Commonwealth Club President Connie
Shapiro has put herself clearly in the criminal camp of
the mass murderers of Iraqi children. The CC unusually
important for a local institution; for example, last 30
April on one week's notice, it sponsored a
for-members-only appearance in San Jose by the previously
mentioned designated President of the USA, alias B2, who
spoke on the subject of "compassionate
conservatism". How I could bear to leave out of this
paragraph the names of Jonathan Swift and George Orwell ?
Even more interestingly, Six Continents CEO Thomas R.
Oliver's decision to send his thugs to play bouncer for
Washington's worst warmonger identifies his world's
largest hotel chain also as an active conspirator in this
vicious anti-Arab campaign. At the same time his Website
boasts of owning 34 hotels in the Middle East. These now
IMHO are all forfeit to damage claims by Iraqi victims,
besides being targets for protests against the lethal
Jewish-American aggression which their owner is overtly
& rudely sponsoring.
Let us note that Oliver-Petrocelli
did Wolfowitz a favor by pretending to take the
initiative in expelling me. This allows Wolfie to deny
his guilt for censoring the press, which can be for him
an important consideration. Had Six Continents merely
reponded to the Pentagon's call or to that of the
official CC host to remove me, then the former's role
would have been relatively incidental. So the gang of
baby-burners decided to jeopardize the world-wide hotel
chain, rather than to highlight Wolfie's absolute
dependence on a controlled propaganda apparatus.
In the very short term, Wolfowitz's cowardly trick
succeeded AFAIK in preventing any independent exposure of
the usual ridiculous frauds in his talk. The reporter for
the Hearst CHRONICLE, one Jonathan Curiel, merely
regurgitated Wolfie bits in his story today for SF's
Jew-edited monopoly daily [Google for
"sfgate"]. BTW I told Curiel FTF of my
expulsion but, of course, without effect. Those who hire
themselves out to promote massacres can be expected to
show defects in their professional solidarity, ethics,
personal integrity etc, eh what ? I gave similar formal
notice to the BBC reporter on the spot, a Colonel Blimp
type whose name was something other than Pennyfeather.
The
"International ANSWER" group turned out a
respectably sizable protest of 80-90 leaders carrying
several large banners and more than 30 one-man picket
signs with slogans like Stop the War on Iraq; Wolfowitz,
Mastermind of Genocide etc. The peace demonstration
completely dominated the four corners facing the hotel
for the two hours of the action. The audience seemingly
must have crawled in through the sewers. On that smiley
will I rest from the keyboard for this Saturday. Now for
the nightshift on the streets.

As announced here earlier, Assistant Secretary of Defense
Paul Wolfowitz is scheduled to address the Commonwealth
Club at the Mark Hopkins Hotel next Friday, December 6th.
Wolfowitz qualifies as one of the top war criminals on
the Planet Earth. For the length of the U.S.Government's
genocidal war against Iraq, Wolfowitz has been one of the
principal architects of aggression. Now he has emerged as
the most prominent war-monger of the
Son of a Bush Administration, which in a twisted way is
like being the best player on the Chicago Bulls
basketball team.
Undoubtedly some folks will show up to protest PW's
appearance. With equal certainty we can assume the B2's
psywar managers will try to deflect the demonstration so
as to
minimize its effect and, if possible, even have it
benefit the DoD image. Barring surprises, B2 can pretty
well count on Bronstein of the Hearst CHRON and the usual
venal TV clowns to parrot his claptrap.
How can San Francisco best respond to this challenge? The
folks who currently have the credentials to present
themselves as leaders of the peace movement = those who
called last month's demonstration at which the crowd was
credibly estimated at 100,000. I humbly venture to
suggest that this party should promptly approach the
Commonwealth Club hosts
in order to offer them a deal along the following
lines:
"After the meeting is
called to order, before he speaks, you give us a short
time at the microphone --say 3 minutes-- to make our
statement against Wolfowitz's war program and in return
we will use our influence to discourage our friends from
disrupting the meeting itself. Aside from our permitted
remarks, we will endeavor
to confine our activities to the public area outside.
However, if you were to
decide to refuse to permit us even a brief word to the
audience from our
designated leader, then you would thereby compell us to
act without your cooperation in order to denounce PW's
bloody lies and to show that our City rejects his wicked
incitements. Depending on how many righteous-minded
Californians are present, this could lead to disorder.
Since the project which your guest is peddling involves
murdering hundreds of thousands of innocent people, we
strongly feel that some brouhaha here --should you
foolishly insist on making it necessary-- would be
absolutely to be preferred to cowardly acquiescence in
silence. After all, do you really think that District
Attorney Terence Hallinan is going to try to get a San
Francisco jury to lock us up for trying to defend the
threatened lives of desperately suffering women &
children? Hallinan, by rights, should arrest Wolfowitz.
The court-appointed moron's secret police state has yet
to take effect in San Francisco, we're here to tell you."
For the Commonwealth Club to cooperate in this
reasonable if minimal fashion with the organized peace
movement would actually serve their own interest.
Complicity in
incitement to aggressive war is a capital crime under
international law. By making a
sincere gesture towards a balanced program, the hosts
could spare themselves some
serious embarrassment. "The mills of the gods grind
slowly but they grind exceeding
small."
An important technical point WRT TV coverage = Prominent
on-screen presentation
of the Web URL of the peace movement. If the spokesman
can get the Web info.
effectively before the TV audience, then we can break the
propaganda monopoly. Substantial URL
logo exposure should be explicitly negotiated with the TV
interviewer beforehand, their agreement there to be
recorded and, of course, their broadcast compliance
checked & reviewed.
I have applied for admission to this event as the local
correspondent of THE
HANDSTAND Webzine, based in far Dublin. Recently I have
covered similar events including programs featuring
personalities such as Ralph Nader, Lewis Lapham, the 4th
generation Sulzberger and Robert Fisk. FYI my article on
Fisk appears in the December issue.
The CC hosts appear to be a tad nervous about this
impending hot date & understandably so. The whole
world is nervous about the H-bomb-banging by this
hysterical gang of baby-killers. Wolfowitz, Aerial
Shaboom and the rest of the Graball are pushing the
invasion of Iraq because of the wearing-off of the
propaganda rush from their last stunt at the WTC. You
know, the knocking over monolith from _2001_, with carbon
copy for TV. Rather than merely passively objecting to
their invasion plans, will we boldly raise the
theme of arresting these notorious villains and
prosecuting them for the felonies which they have already
committed?
