OBITUARY

Camilo J.Cela,Author,May 1916-Jan.2002 : His small volume Journey to Alcarria, the work of someone who had "such a happy childhood it was difficult to grow up." A few days walking just after the Civil War in an area full of villages and working people. People, their features;daylight and dusk; taverns with "resonant" names;houses, a closed door "like a stingy purse", kitchens, food; children,"staring fixedly like cats"; gardens; individual trees; the fertility of the land; insects; water, in pails for washing, or a basin of greenish water that bubbles slightly..surrounded by iris, water in the river; weeds;dogs;donkeys; and throughout the special intimate thoughts of a joyful and discerning truth and imagination."The traveller....he likes to fall asleep with the memory of some last pleasant sensation on his mind", Rest In Peace,Don Camilo
