Last night [Friday 11/22] I covered Robert
Fisk's lecture in Berkeley,California on the
topic of "War & Peace in the Middle East"
for Jocelyn Braddell's Dublin-based HANDSTAND Webzine.
Mr.Fisk is the
lead foreign correspondent for the INDEPENDENT newspaper
of London. He was promoting the new, post 9/11 edition of
his book PITY THE NATION about the Israeli invasion of
Lebanon in the early 'Eighties.
At the moment I have only minutes available before going
off to drive my night-shift taxi but:
From the beginning to the end of the Q & A Mr.Fisk
studiously ignored my waving arm in favor of younger
members of the audience. Either luck was simply against
me or he was put off by my physical appearance of, say, O
Santa Bin Klaws or an older version of Holbein's Henry
VIII.
Anyhow, I want to throw Derry-way
some quick impressions in case that day after tomorrow
they may be of timely use to any like-minded souls
thereabouts.
Robert Fisk comes from the same noble
imperial litter as Ralph Nader, which is
to say that they are both normal alias
"gentile" members of the Oxbridge -- Ivy League
Anglo-American ruling class. Two of the very few whom one
can, so to speak, take out in public. The bowstring of
personal integrity is still stretched more-or-less taut
in both of them as rarest examples, in contrast with
nearly the whole rest of the pack of Establishment
lawyers and journalists who cavort shamelessly around the
Golden Calf splattering lies and blood all over hoi
polloi.
Near the end, a questioner apologized for bringing up the
subject of Ireland and Fisk accepted the
distraction. This possibly creates the complementary
opportunity at Monday's event, if there be also Q &
A. In a curious, momentary bobble, Fisk
disputed the questioner's reference to the
"thirtieth" anniversary of Bloody Sunday,
calling it rather the "twentieth"; after
patient correction, he repaired his mistake.
To come to the meat of the matter, properly speaking and
contrary to vulgar opinion, both Fisk
and Nader belong on the extreme right
wing of political discussion. Just one step beyond them
begins the dark realm of imperial war crimes which is
simply felonious, rather than "left, middle or
right". To call the murder in their own homes of
peaceful folk of whatever nationality, religion or
complexion a "conservative" action _ipso facto_
marks the speaker as an accessory to the foul deed.
At least on his chosen ground of the Middle East,
Mr.Fisk puts on a highly worthwhile show.
However he needs the wholesome influence put upon him of
the audience's amateur hunger for, if I may again use the
old words, truth and justice. He obviously spends so much
professional time in the company of the jackals of
Washington, Tel Aviv and Whitehall that he seems to be
able to content himself with proving to us their feral
nature. [Some of us know that very well already,
Mr.Fisk!]
RF twice repeated with significant
emphasis that he works for a "mainstream
newspaper". Apparently this means that if he wants
to keep on doing so --and he does-- then there are some
things about which he must keep silent, including the
ticklish question of exactly what those forbidden
subjects are. Well, that's what I want to get to
shortly....
The final question of the evening came from a young man
who challenged RF's description of suicide bombers as
"wicked". This chap finished by asking if RF
considered Israeli PM Ariel Sharon to be
a war criminal. Mr.Fisk then replied
that Mr.Sharon "deserves a fair trial". On
those very words the evening ended where it should have
begun.
RF makes a point of..... a) denouncing Saddam
Hussein as a monster and
.........................................b) --I believe--
of blaming Osama Bin Laden for the 9/11
attacks.
I regret to agree with RF that Saddam
Hussein falls far short of the standards of
revolutionary leadership formerly set by Chairman Mao
Zedong of China or Uncle Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam. That
deficiency being duly noted, the question then arises:
whom law-abiding people should seek first to arrest among
the pool of suspects including the Bushes,
Clintons, Ariel Sharon, Sulzbergers, Michael Eisner, Paul
Wolfowitz, Tony Blair et al. as well as Saddam
and OBL. I have previously answered that we know for
certain that all of the accomplices of JAM or the
Jewish-American eMpire belong in the criminal dock. Only
after the revelations of those trials will we be able to
say whether any charges properly lie against the two Arab
leaders operating under such adverse conditions. To
denounce either of the latter without making clear the
far greater degree of guilt of the presently regnant JAM
tyrants in itself constitutes a criminal error. Is this
clear? I have long proposed the sound-bite: "George
Bush and Ariel Sharon make Saddam Hussein look by
comparison like Mother Teresa."
Mr.Fisk, unlike 95% of the
Anglo-American public, presumably recognizes the names of
Lord Moyne, Count Folke Bernadotte, Deir Yassin,
The Lavon Affair and the planted transmitter of
Tripoli. To boil it down, I would fain rest my weary
right arm and put it to the emminent correspodent that
the evidence indicates that Aerial Shaboom ordered his
Staff Scouts or Sayeret Matkal alias Unit 262 to stage
the 9/11 provocation precisely in order to rescue the JAT
(tyranny) from the doom threatened against it by the
debacle of the Israeli delegation in the U.N. conference
against white supremacism alias racism which ended in
Durban, South Africa on 8 September 2001. Fisk
hints at this with his references to the banning of the
discussion of "motive" from establishment
accounts of 9/11 but he coyly gives the impression that
he thereby refers to motives of Muslim rage rather than
to Jew-jingo motives for staging the attack in order to
throw blame on the Arabs.
.." Mr.Fisk, sir, in your opinion
how many chances out of 100 that the same hand was behind
the bombing of the Federal kindergarten in Oklahoma City
in 1995, the smashing of Princess Diana
in 1997 and the 9/11 attacks ? "
.."Secondly, do you agree that the Graball led by
the names above has already cruelly murdered by prolonged
blockade more than one million Iraqi civilians, mostly
small children, and that it clearly intends to try to put
the whole globe under its merciless domination ?
Prominent JAM ideologues such as Robert Kagan
and Daniel Pipes openly proclaim this
apocalyptic ambition? On two items of language, since you
yourself call for right words: 'Tis but folly to say that
Bush the Second threatens
"war" against Iraq."
Even aside from the constant bombing, the U.S. _blockade_
--"embargo" and "sanctions" being but
silly euphemisms-- is intrinsically an act of war. The
USA has been waging war continuously against Iraq for
these last dozen years. What B2 threatens
is an escalation of that war, an invasion, rather than a
commencement. Aerial Shaboom's motive in
handling his puppet B2 in this fashion
is to
raise the blood stakes yet again exactly because we the
Six Billion have again seen through his 9/11 fraud. Shaboom
wishes to force us, the great chorus, to send forward the
orderlies who will finally take over the direction of the
global pageant and closely confine the demented UZI's or
UltraZIonists, thus relieving them of their intolerable
psychological burden of command.
